Genre: Family
Tagline: Geeks are bullies to.
HARRY is a little, meek boy that is experiencing bullying by the top guy JACK. HARRY is too ashamed to tell anyone so he keeps it to himself. But today is the day he decides to seek revenge on JACK.
Exposition:
• HARRY walks into school with a happy mood like always, keeping himself to himself, whereas everyone else is entering the school gates with their friends.
• HARRY then sees JACK while entering his class and has a sick feeling and a sense of fear on his face.
Development:
• An hour goes by and the school bell rings, symbolizing that class is over, you hear see two boys run out laughing and pointing and run away.
• HARRY then comes out the class soaked with water, while people walk past (preferably girls) walk past and point and laugh.
• HARRY gets angry and sad that he has no-one to confide in then runs off the scene.
• HARRY then tries to take things off of his mind, and offers to do community service. (Present this by a hand giving him the “community service” card)
• As HARRY is doing his community service he begins to draw and include all the terrible things that has ever occurred in his life.
• As HARRY is drawing the only things that he seems to draw are in regards to JACK, with this though he gets frustrated and pushes a chair into the cupboard without thought.
• Exactly soon after this happens everything untop of the cupboard falls unto the floor.
Complication:
•Coincidently a magazine about pranks and jokes falls down in front of Harry
•HARRY then has a quick flashback of what had happened first period with JACK.
• HARRY looks at the camera smiling /winking showing he has an idea.
Climax:
• Later on, on that day HARRY begins to go through the magazine and sees all the funny pranks that are included in the magazine.
• In relation to this HARRY then hatches a cunning plan to seek revenge on JACK by producing a Prank. HARRY then writes them all down in this specific order listed below:
1) Put Superglue on the chair that JACK will be sitting on.
2) Slippery liquid outside floor of classroom (As everyone would have left Baba puts slippery liquid on the floor outside classroom so when JACK finally gets of his chair he will fall over).
3) Place clear tape across the outside of a door from top to bottom (JACK will run into it as he is in a hurry to get home).
4) He then runs out frantically through the media corridor.
Resolution:
• The next day HARRY comes into school, with a new personality. JACK is still very angry with what happened to him yesterday and happy slaps HARRY to gain his authority back.
• But HARRY does not take it lightly, when JACK turns around HARRY pushes him down to the floor, giving JACK the macho look, and we now see the reverse of character personality - now HARRY has found his identity, and as he walks off JACK is left on the floor representing him as the weaker character and HARRY gaining status.

Audience Feedback of 1st Pitch
This is the feedback I got from the first of my groups pitch. It was just a practice so we still had time for improvements.
Positives
-Idea came clear
-Video link was good as it showed research
-Really simple and explained clearly
-Every member had a part
Negatives
-Should of gave examples of pranks we planned to do
-Not very creative
-Interact with audience more
-Don’t have an audience
We were told that our film idea works because the genre markets our target audience who are family/young teenagers. However we this was told after out pitch because we didn't show or mention the list of pranks meaning we couldn't be told if it markets our audience and so was told we didn't have an audience.
Our characters are developing because in the development process the geek (Harry) is bullied and can't defend himself from the bully (Jack) but later on he sets up a list of pranks to set on the bully showing his built confidence and at the resolution he pushes Jack on the floor representing him as a completely different person to who he was before.
I think the most successful aspect of the idea was selling our story idea clearly which is one of the most important parts of a pitch because if the audience does not get the story, it will not sell.
I think what I and my group need to improve on is make our pitch more creative and interact with the audience much more. This is because if it is creative the audience will enjoy it and interacting with the public will make them feel part of the story. If we manage to achieve these two in our real pitch along with keeping our story clear and simple, I am sure it will be fantastic.

How To Take Stunning Pictures
I watched a programme the other day on
about how to take stunning pictures. The episode focused on Landscape and featured famous photographer Charlie Waite.
Here are most off the things I managed to write down and put up here.
HOW
• Always use a tripod, but don’t set it up until you’re really ready to shoot. Look around and explore through the viewfinder to find the correct frame.
• Look for reflections. A polarising filter will help control these and is best used when at an angle of 90 degrees to the sun.
WHEN
• Bright sunlight takes colours out. Diffused light, such dawn, cloudy days and shade makes colours more intense
• Shoot at different times of day in the same location to discover which type of lighting will be best and most appealing.
WHERE
• Research your location of choice. Many places would have been photographed before, so try to find a new angle.
• Look for different perspectives: climb a tree, stand from a angle or lie on the ground.
WHAT
• Look for lines that draw your eyes into the shot. If you’ve driven somewhere, don’t necessarily frame out the road - it might provide good contrasting diagonal lines to create drama.
I feel this will help me with making my own film because I will need to take shots and they will need to be stunning in order for it to be effective and get the high grades.
Short films watched in class
Hard Labour
The first film that was watched was called ‘Hard Labour’ and was about a Croatian woman living and working in British house, but has been having sex with the Man. She then gets pregnant the same time the wife gets pregnant and lies that the father is away. She is forced to get an abortion and blackmails the husband to not do anything to her otherwise she’ll tell his wife what is going on. At the end she runs away with the couples’s baby and takes the train.
I feel that the narrative was simple. This is as it got straight to the point and didn’t waste time. The narrative was also similar to many British soaps likes Eastenders so I was used to seeing it storylines like it. I feel like the ending was unexpected but a good ending because it made the film a little bit better. However there was some times that I lost track due to boredom and watching the same type of storyline before.
Stripes
Strips is a film about a trespasser who breaks into a mans house that he remembers used to bully him when he was a kid in Secondary school and wants to remind him about all the misery and sorrow he put him through and wants to take revenge.
The narrative for this film I feel was very good as I wanted to watch on to see what would happen. Every time the intruder was talking I wanted to hear the other mans response and see what was going to happen to him. However I did feel it was a bit predictable as I knew the intruder was going to do something to the man for pay back. The ending of the film was effective because although I had guessed that the intruder was going to harm the man, the director didn’t actually show it but heard it through OFF SCREEN.
Another reason for why I liked the storyline was because it changed the perceptions of the protagonist to an antagonist and back to a protagonist again. This is when he gets tired to a chair his an protagonist and then when the intruder tells him all the things he did to him the audience see him in a different light(antagonist) and then when the man is going to slash his face you feel a bit of sympathy for him.
Dialogue was used throughout the film, while in mine it can’t be used so I can’t gain much from that and it lacked a range of shots. If the narrative wasn’t interesting the film would have been boring.
However the opening sequence was very good and I really liked it due to the lighting and objects used. A mixture of high and low key lighting was used to show a kettle boiling and a close up of the stream coming out. This may of represented the situation that was going on and about to happen.
What I could take from this film is connotation of the opening shot when portraying the boiling kettle to the narrative. Also how the narrative of a story can change the overall look as it was all filmed in the same room.
Job Street
This film was about a group of recently arrived illegal immigrants who all stay at a street waiting to be picked up by men to work at a factory. They get taken one by one and the last one is a black African who is fooled and then gets beating up in a racial attack but manages to escape after stabbing the man in the leg. He then begins to get scared and stays outside by himself in the pouring rain. He goes home and runs back and later beats up his friend not knowing who it is due to he didn’t see him and is scared.
The narrative of the film was complicated due too many things were happening and so didn’t understand everything.
The shots were typical and basic and there wasn’t one that fascinated me. A positive from this film is that it may appeal to emotional people.
To be honest I don’t know what I may take from this film because nothing excited me.
The first time it hits
The first time it hits is about a boy meets girl relationship and ends in the boys accidently hitting the girl in the face and then runs off. It is set in an inside car park.
The film was weird at the start but turned out to be funny which was what it aimed to be as it was a comedy. The narrative made sense and was a typical boy meets girl, she is sitting down and he’s on his skateboard and hits her in the head by mistake as he is trying to show of his moves.
Editing and the shots used were creative and very intelligent. The pace of the editing was very fast which matched the narrative of the film telling a story of cool fun teens and also matched the non digetic music which was a punk rock song. The director used a wide range of shots from close-ups to low angles and pans.
As dialogue was not used at all there is a lot I could take from the film especially the wide range of shot types and narrative. The fact the film made me laugh made it a success because in order for a comedy to be successful it has to bring the humor out and be funny.
Ice Cream Dream
This film was about a young girl who loves working with her father in the Ice cream van. Her father is worried that she isn’t making friends and encourages her to go out of the house more often to socialize. She has day dreams of herself telling her that no one wants to play with her as well as another herself saying they do. She wants to play with a boy who is always riding his scooter but afraid to ask. She has a dream and this boosts her confidence the following day. At the end when she is about to go with her dad in the ice cream van she decides to leave and finally makes friends with the local children.
I personal found the narrative too cheesy and a happily ever after type of fairytale. It was a type of film
marketed at children. However there was something I liked about it as I still wanted to carry on watching
it. The film was simple but there was a part that I didn’t think needed to be included when the girls mum and dad were talking about money and the mortgage because children are not going to be interested and will not even understand.
The camera work was very basic and nothing special, but there was a particular camera movement I liked which was a tracking shot moving towards her and all the other characters (children) moving aside. I liked this shot because it created some type of excitement as we couldn’t see her at first until every character moved out of the way.
What I learnt from this film was that you can take a simple story idea and transform it into something special through the likes of narrative and camera movements.

What I feel I can take from this film to make my own movie is that I can take a common and simple idea but change it into something better and exciting by a good and unexpected ending.

I knew the film was a comedy at the end when the girl character opened her eyes and winked after being hit because most of the time the person will get up and chase the guy that hit her. The negatives about the film were that from the opening to the middle I didn’t really know what was going on.

Locked in my Mind Treatment (1st Draft)
Treatment
Brackets indicate we may still change idea
(Locked in My Mind)
Tagline: (There’s many things you can escape, but your mind is not one of them.)
The main character (JERMAINE) dumps his girlfriend Shabnab in front of the entire class; however what he does not know is that this girl placed a curse on him. Leading on to the main bulk of the film when the curse unravels on him – while he is all alone in the empty, deserted locker room – with no way of getting out, this is when the horrors of the curse begin, he struggles, he fights, but is there anyway of getting out of this? Maybe it’s just all a figure of his imagination.
Beginning:
• JERMAINE strolls into class with his friends, one by his left side and another by his right. Meanwhile his apparent “girlfriend” is sitting down gossiping with her friends. SHABNAM ( is a very strict Muslim and very passionate with her culture – therefore her costume must correspond her faith)
• Finally, JERMAINE dumps SHABNAM in front of the entire class, and leaves her on her knees begging him to take her back.
• But instead he just pushes her face down to the floor and the whole class left here there (including here friends) taunting and laughing art her.
• In anger and annoyance, she curses him Arabic, while no else can hear.
Middle:
• After JERMAINE successfully dumps his girlfriend SHABNAM in front of the class and his “boys”, he and his friends then make their way down to the gym – however, JERMAINE forgot his gym bag in the PE locker room – so his makes his way to the locker room departs from his friends, so he can get it and then meet up later.
• While JERMAINE is in the deserted locker room the door automatically locks behind him but makes no sound whatsoever, so JERMAINE continues walking – unaware of the dangers that wait before him.
• As JERMAINE goes deeper and deeper into the locker room, he realises that his possessions are on the floor and one by one they lead to the showers, as he walks the tension builds and so does the sound. By the time he picks up his shorts the showers turn on in a almost a rythamactic approach, the closer he gets the much harder the water pouts down as long with the sound.
• When he finally opens the curtains he sees his ex girlfriend SHABNAM with run down eyeliner and mascara, repeating the curse she said in the beginning (with a knife in her hand).
• He quickly runs away to get out – but the door is locked, his banging his screaming in fear and looks back and sees nothing.
• The showers have stopped and the sound is neutral, with this JERMAINE turns around completely and sees a hanging rope still, right in front of his face.
• And then underneath there is a blood trail, JERMAINE follows it in fear and then he sees the writing on the wall in blood saying “BLAH BLAH BLAH!”
ENDING:
• JERMAINE then gets dizzy and sweaty, and sits down on the bench, and tries to understand what is going on, but his losing consciousness.
• He then sits up straight and fixes up, but then he can feel a strong shadow over him, and smell of a very bad breath, he slowly looks up scared of what his about to see – and sees nothing, he breathes out and gets up shaking all his nerves off, turns round and BOOM there’s SHABNAM with a big teddy bear in her arm saying I love you.
• JERMAINE screams bewilder, and then the film rewinds all the way back into the beginning to when JERMAINE was about to leave his friends.
• JERMAINE decides not to go into the changing room as he realises it was all just a figure of his imagination – his friends calm him down and loosen him up.
• And when the film is just about to end PATRICK, JERMAINES best friend’s eye has one white contact in it – and winks at the camera then turns into SHABNAM.
Our story is simple in my eyes as it’s just the typical break up story of a guy who dumps girl in front of the entire class – and only went out with her for a joke. In relation to that, the EX decides to get her own back and curses JERMAINE. Which he then later experiences in the locker room – she plays with his mind, everything may seem like reality – but in actual truth its simply all in his imagination. But, at the end his nightmare unravels into reality when SHABNAM possess PATRICK’s body.
